The peanut is undoubtedly the legume in fashion. In fact, pulses in all their varieties are in fashion. Just a few years ago it seemed that they didn't even exist... but why this disdain for one of the most complete foods in existence? Fortunately, they have now regained the prominence and importance they deserve, so much so that even the peanut powderAnd why?
Why are peanuts so highly recommended?
Rich in quality proteins, slow assimilation carbohydrates, low in sugars, rich in fibre, satiating, high in vitamins and minerals, delicious, easy to prepare with lots of cooking options... what more could you ask for! Well, that they are PEANUTS. Because peanuts, in addition to all of this, CONTAIN HEALTHY FATS and a taste that most of us love.
The peanut butter in particular, has become an almost essential part of any breakfast or snack for anyone who leads a healthy lifestyle. And what would be the only "little problem"? Well, as they are high in fat and calories, we have to measure the quantity a little more. They are great fats, yes, but remember that everything in its right measure.
Peanut powder is here to stay
That is why Weider has created this new product, 100% natural (made only with peanuts and nothing else), but with very special characteristics. It is the Peanut Butter Powderor, in other words, peanut butter powder.
In addition to its powdered form, it differs from peanut butter mainly in its high protein content y reduced fat contentThis makes it more interesting to incorporate it into our dishes when we want to increase our protein intake.
The increase in the proportion of protein arises from the subtraction of fat:
- Made from defatted roasted peanuts.
- By reducing fat, a higher amount of protein and fibre is obtained, allowing the product to greatly reduce its caloric intake.
- While peanut butter has 26 % of protein, in the case of peanut powder it rises to 48%.
- The fat content of peanut butter is 46%, in the new Peanut Butter Powder there is only 14% fat.
- This does not mean that one is healthier than the other. Both are very good foods, only one is higher in fat and the other is higher in protein.
The fact that it is in powder form also gives it great versatility. It is a delicious way to add flavour and nutritional value to many dishes. Prioritising, or at least increasing, vegetable protein consumption and reducing animal protein consumption is always my recommendation, and consuming Peanut Butter Powder is a very good and tasty way to do it. These are some of the options and recipes we can make with peanuts.
How to use peanut flour?
Peanut flour, also commonly called groundnut powder, has several uses in the kitchen. Here are the most common and delicious uses of groundnut flour:
Add it to yoghurts
It is possible to add in yoghurts natural ingredients to give them flavour, as well as increasing the protein level. And from there, all the combinations you want!
- With natural or Greek yoghurt, peanut powder plus chopped banana, or any other fruit.
- You can also add oat flakes or oatmeal.
- With a crunchy touch of seeds or nuts, sultanas, dates... it all depends on how dense you want to make it and how many calories you need.
Fitness biscuits with peanut powder
Use it for your recipes of fitness biscuitsInstead of using oat flour or other flour, you would use peanut powder.
I saw this simple biscuit recipe on the internet and it caught my attention. It has only one ingredient and is made in the microwave in 3 minutes:
- INGREDIENTS:
- PREPARATION:
- For each biscuit, mix one tablespoon of peanut powder and one tablespoon of peanut butter. Make a homogeneous dough, give it the desired shape, put them in the microwave at maximum power for three minutes.
- Then you leave them to cool so that they take consistency and don't break and that's it.
Fitcochos
As with biscuits, you can make sponge cakes with a base of oat flour, egg, milk... and add peanut flour to give that touch of flavour to your sponge cake.
Breakfast bowl
Simple and nutritious: in a bowl with a yoghurt base, with chopped fruit, flakes, just add a couple of spoonfuls of Peanut Butter Powder as a topping and that's it! There are a thousand possibilities!
In your smoothies
In any of your favourite smoothies, add a spoonful to give it that peanutty touch, as well as adding more consistency and creaminess.
You can mix it with water and you have a high-protein plant-based drink with no added sugars. It can also be mixed with milk, vegetable drink, or your protein shake. For example, the mixture of Isolate Whey Biscuit flavour or the 100% Whey Clean Formula Chocolate flavour with a spoonful of Peanut Butter Powder is delicious!
I'm out of Peanut Butter!
Make your own peanut butter, for example if you run out of your existing peanut butter, or if you want a lower calorie, higher protein peanut butter. Simply mix the peanut powder with water until you reach the desired creamy texture.
In the following video you can see all these options, and it is very easy to make the most of peanut powder. Let us know if you become as big a fan of it as we have.
